This week we are talking about how we each add our style and uniqueness to our daily creative lives. It's a longer session than usual because we also announce a few things on the horizon. One is the LIVE event on May 5th. Of course we want to know what you do to #FlavorItUp and show your #creativeflavor -- reply below. I hope you'll join us!! -- Click here to watch the Spreecast.

My #MondayMantra was "And suddenly you know...It's time to start something new & trust the magic of new beginnings." That got me thinking--you know that moment when you realize you’ve been working on and planning something for a year and it finally feels ready to share and say out loud? Okay. That’s where I am. I’ve been talking about creating this online class called ONE PAGE WONDERS and for the life of me I could not figure out how I wanted to share this lovely offering with people. Well...drum roll please...One Page Wonders will be a self-paced, project driven, online class for anyone interested in making 7 (yes SEVEN) handmade books -- each from a single sheet of paper. I talked about this class during my first Book-in-a-Day challenge but it never felt right in my mind. I couldn't figure out whether or not I wanted to facilitate the class or not. I've decided that I don't need to facilitate it every time, but that I will facilitate it the first time I release it. The first round of One Page Wonders will start on June 1st. Early Bird registration will open on May 18th. The facilitated version of the class will run for 2 weeks (June 1 to June 14). I'll have a Spreecast kick-off event on May 19th at 12PM Eastern where I'll share the projects we're gonna make and maybe even have a few friends join me for some creative face time. I'll share the supply list and you'll be able to ask me any questions about the class or about creative empowerment. And we might even make something on air. So make sure you sign up to join me for the live event -- you know I'll be giving away a few things :-). CLICK HERE TO JOIN ME FOR THE LIVE EVENT. I'm still working on a few nitty gritty details, but I will definitely share more as I decide. I can tell you that there will be videos on technique (how to make the books) and on creative exploration (how to fill the books with your unique goodness). And of course there will be something for both the writing journalers and the art journalers -- I'm thinking prompts + step-by-steps for filling your pages with ease and maybe even a tech tip or two thrown in for good measure. Okay so mark your calendars for these dates and get ready!
My First Nature Journal
Here I am sharing my first nature journal entry. I must say -- it was fun to make the book, but even more fun to use my colored pencils to create the "Edibles" from my fridge. Thanks for the nudge Kelly!!
Here's my short video where I share my book making process and talk a little about how I made the page.

With every field trip I took my students on to something filled with nature, I grew less and less fearful. I slowly found my way back to loving everything there is to love about it. I always had a love for deer, owls, and butterflies because they seemed to follow me no matter where I lived -- from apartment to apartment, house to house, and from city to city. That was always my connection to nature -- deer, owls, and butterflies. But the one thing I've not done is completely conquer my fear. It's much less than it was 10 years ago, but there are still some things I just will not do -- like swim in a lake or go hiking in trees without a hat. But here's the thing -- I will go to a lake and will go hiking -- that's something!! So what's the big deal about all of this? Well, one of my absolute favorite nature journalers and all around nature-gal, Kelly Johnson of Wings, Worms, and Wonder is teaching a course on how to draw your self back to nature using art journaling!!!!!! WHAAAAAT!!!! Two things I love and don't do enough of combined in one amazing class!!! I'm all over that. She launched the registration for the class today and I'm already in!! She's also asked me to take one of the first assignments and join her in a blog hop with Virginia Simpson-Magruder and Grace Howes. How could I say no to that? So TODAY is day one of the hop and Kelly started us off with an amazing prompt. Tomorrow, Virginia has a fantastic tutorial on her blog and then Grace of course will do something super terrific -- then I'll come in with a video showing my process for creating and starting the journal I plan to use for this blog hop and for Kelly's class. So I hope you'll join us for the blog hop AND for the class. We each have some amazing give-a-ways during the hop so make sure you hit all of the blogs this week and get signed up for the give-a-ways. Here's a link to Kelly's blog post where she starts us off with a really beautiful quote and a simple journaling page.
If you play along with us, please be sure to tag me (@kialagives), Kelly (@wingswormsandwonder), Virginia (@kentuckygirldesigns) and Grace (@kgracehowes) on Instagram and use the hashtag #wingswormsandwonder so we can find you.
During our first LIVE edition of The Creative View, we shared our process for making 30-day vision boards to help us manifest what we want in our lives over the next month. This was not only a fun process, but a really healing one. I realized that since we moved from California to Georgia, I've gotten out of my routines. This is why I've been feeling so scattered and pulled in too many directions.
I need rituals and routines in my life. I have since I was diagnosed with A.D.D. at age 13. I tried the medicine for a few months back in 1986, but quickly realized that wasn't for me. Over the years, I learned lots of strategies and techniques to help me live beautifully and fully. Everything from what I eat and when I eat to time management and getting good quality sleep. One of my most helpful strategies is having established rituals & routines in my daily life that keep me centered and balanced. So I journal almost every morning, have a cup of tea, and when we lived in California, I did yoga regularly and walked almost everyday. The other thing I do that helps tame the mental chaos is to eat all organic, mostly raw meals that help keep me healthy and happy. I like feeling great, having lots of energy, and being an active participant in my life. So my 30-day manifestation is about re-establishing my rituals & routines now that I've moved across the country -- again. Georgia is treating us well, but I barely have my routines down -- but I'm getting there. Over the next 30-days I want to be more intentional about my eating, walking, and water intake. This intentional vision board is about manifesting those things in my life over the next month.
I like having my 30-day board nearby so that I can see it everyday -- that's the point right? So I use a plastic page protector, a binder clip, and a thumbtack to put the vision board near my desk.
The plastic sleeve let's me change out my vision board every 30 days if I want to and the 8.5 x 11 sized sheet makes it easy to come to this practice without feeling like I need to create a huge poster sized collage every time I want to manifest something new. There were many creative women in the chat who had some amazing things they are hoping to bring forth in their lives as well. You can watch the replay of our creative time together and see what resonates with you. Spreecast is the social video platform that connects people.
What are you manifesting in your life?
