Journaling Journey Part 1

Did you keep a diary as a kid? I did. I had one of those really pink ones with a tiny silver locket that came with a paper thin key. I thought it was the best thing ever. My sister gave it to me as a birthday gift when I was about 8 and I carried that thing around until it was brown, tattered, and the key was no longer in my possession.

Eventually, I started using a spiral notebook and hid it in the back of my closet under a stack of sweatshirts. Then I moved on to a fancier hardbound blank book and on and on and on. I've done a lot of journal keeping in my 42 years. So much that I'm pretty sure now I am addicted to journaling. I can't NOT journal. I even ran a journaling club for teens when I taught middle school many, many, many years ago. That was fun and I learned a lot about journaling from those kids.

They were gluing and taping things into their journals and using crayons and markers to add color and fat bubble letters, so I started doing the same. Years later, I met a lady who told me I was "art journaling." -- You can read about that story on the HowToArtJournal.com blog. Basically, I took what the kiddies taught me and ran with it.

From working with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, I also learned that I really like creating journaling prompts and giving exercises to get the creative juices flowing. So last year in January I did a journaling journey with a few other women where I sent them a prompt via email everyday for 31 days. We had a blast.

Many people wrote to me and said they missed the chance to be a part of that. Well, now is your chance to journal with us again. I've launched my first Journaling Journey ebook (with 3 more in the works).
