What's up with the SPIRALDEX? Okay, I have to admit, when I saw this odd looking thing for the first time I was deeply confused about why anyone would use it and what it was for. I imagine some of you are thinking that as you read this as well. If you aren't familiar with the sprialdex, READ THIS blog post by the creator, Kent From Oz. He calls it a "visual mapping organizer system" and has a video you can watch where he explains how he uses it. If you know anything about me you know I totally geeked out on the fact that it mimics the Fibonacci Spiral (ie, Sacred Geometry). Of course, I took his method and made it my own, which is what I highly encourage you to do if you decide to give it a try. Here's how and why I use it: 1. For documenting & tracking, not for planning. 2. As a visual representation of my day, week, month, etc. 3. Because it reminds me to take more breaks and engage in more self care. Basically, I don't try to plan my day with it, instead, I come back to it at the end of my day (usually when I'm on the couch chatting with hubby or watching a movie). I use cute colored markers to designate work and personal tasks. These are the things I track most and I just use 2 colors. As I type this, I'm about to add a third color for gym / yoga time so I can pull that out from the personal time and be more intentional about tracking when I do and do not work out. I've made two PDFs of the spiraldex on 2x2 squares that I then print on full sized labels and cut them out for my planner like stickers. If you want to grab a copy, click below and download the PDF. I always tell my clients and students to try new things for at least 6 weeks before you decide you hate it or love it. Give it time to work (or fail) and see if it really does fit for your life. If you already use a similar system (like the chronodex), let me know below. If you are going to try this one, post in the comments how you plan to use it.
Happy and productive planning!!!
